Shop Talk Time!

You are invited to a “Shop Talk” informal gathering at Doug Brooke’s shop in Spangle, WA June 8th at 10AM. Coffee and donuts will be provided, but you may want to bring a folding chair. ACBS members only please. RSVP to Doug by texting or calling 509 280-3011.

Doug’s silver and red steel shop building is located at the SE corner of the intersection of Second and Main in Spangle. Enter through the small grey door on the Second Street side. Parking is somewhat limited at the building. You may use my drive way and the street in the front of the building. There are other spots around town, just be considerate of the neighbors.

To get there, head south on US 195 take the Watt Road exit left toward Spangle then right at the stop sign when you enter town.

See you there.  Doug

Woody Boat Contest

It’s time to play the Woody Boat Contest! This contest is just for fun. Results are subjective. Top 5 will be in Scuttlebutt and the winner receives a bottle of wine, T-shirt, or gift certificate (depending on what we find) Ron Yandt is the judge. Next Contest will be March 15, 2024 9:00am and ends April 30, 2024 12:00PM

How many gauges does your boat have? Gauge can be mounted on the dash, on the engine cover, and on the engine itself! For example, if you had 6 gauges on the dashboard and an oil pressure gauge on the engine then your total would be 7. Good luck in the contest.

IEACBS’s $1000 contribution to the Priest Lake Food Bank

Wes and Sue Yandt met with Dick and Mary Guman yesterday to deliver the IEACBS’s $1000 contribution to the Priest Lake Food Bank.  They are both dedicated volunteers at the food Bank.  Dick works about 30 hrs per week as the food banks accountant and they both are continuously managing the flow of food through the food bank.  They currently have 128 people on their recipients list but this number varies depending on the time of year.

All About Us

Inland Empire ACBS was started from members who were already members of other chapters in the northwest.  We realized there was a core of members and even more to be added in northern Idaho and eastern Washington, a group petitioned to be recognized as a chapter in 2000. Inland Empire Chapter is still part of the northwest group of chapters (Columbia Willamette, Pacific Northwest, Big Sky and Okanagan Chapters) and we coordinate our events throughout the summer so that there is always a near-by boat show with no overlapping conflicts.

By now, Inland Empire members come from far and wide, as do event participants, just to be in the beautiful scenery and in the clear lakes with their vintage boats.

History of Inland Empire Antique & Classic Boat Society

The Inland Empire ACBS was started from members who were already members of other chapters in the northwest.  We realized there was a core group of members and even more to be added in northern Idaho and eastern Washington, the group petitioned to be recognized as an official chapter in 2000. Inland Empire Chapter is still part of the northwest group of chapters (Columbia Willamette, Pacific Northwest, Big Sky and Okanagan Chapters). The Inland Empire ACBS has 120 members as of the winter of 2024 and hosts three boat shows during the summer (Sandpoint Boat Show, Coeur D' Alene Festival, and Dry Rot Boat Show at Priest Lake). Inland Empire ACBS also posts a newsletter called The Scuttlebutt and the Trading Dock. Third issue of the Inland Scuttlebutt Summer of 2001. Click to view.
